Standing With Nepal: Continuing Our Work in Hagam Amid Change

In recent weeks, Nepal has experienced a wave of youth-led protests and major political change. In September, demonstrations erupted after a controversial social media ban, and quickly broadened to demands for transparency, accountability, and systemic reform. Since then, the country has seen the resignation of its prime minister, the dissolution of Parliament, and the formation of an interim government ahead of elections scheduled for March 2026.

Despite this period of transition and uncertainty, Jericho Road’s work in Nepal remains steadfast. In the rural village of Hagam, our clinic continues to provide critical health services to families who would otherwise have little or no access to consistent medical care. Our dedicated Nepali staff remain on the front lines every day—delivering maternal care, treating illness and injury, and offering preventive health education to improve community well-being.

This year alone, the Hagam Health Center has already served thousands of patients:

  • More than 4,500 outpatient visits from January through August
  • Over 4,000 prescriptions filled and nearly 10,000 lab tests performed
  • Prenatal care for dozens of mothers, with healthy deliveries taking place at the clinic
  • Hundreds of x-rays and ultrasounds, helping detect and treat conditions early
  • Lifesaving ambulance transports for patients needing higher-level care
  • Pediatric and adult inpatient admissions each month, ensuring even the most vulnerable can receive treatment close to home
  • Community health screening events that have reached hundreds with preventive care and education

“We are deeply grateful to our Nepali staff and community partners, who show remarkable resilience and leadership in the face of change. Their dedication allows us to keep serving those most in need—no matter the political climate.”
-Fidèle Menavanza, Chief Compliance & Global Operations Officer, Jericho Road Community Health Center

While road closures and administrative changes have occasionally disrupted supply chains or travel, our team has successfully navigated these challenges to keep care consistent and reliable. These numbers aren’t just statistics—they represent neighbors, children, parents, and grandparents in Hagam receiving the care they need, when they need it most.
